POOLE'S Twin Sails Bridge has re-opened after a crash which caused rush-hour chaos.
The collision happened on the Hamworthy side of the crossing and was reported to police at 3.50pm.
The bridge was closed to traffic approaching from the Poole direction until around 5.30pm. With the town's older lifting bridge closed for planned maintenance, drivers were being urged to use the Holes Bay Road.
Morebus said it was diverting its buses via Wimborne Road, Creekmoor, Upton and the Red Lion at Hamworthy to pick up their normal route from Coles Avenue.
The collision involved a Volkswagen Transporter registered to a man from Fordingbridge and a Peugeot 307 registered to a man from Hamworthy.
Police said the crash was causing severe delays while arrangements were made to recover the vehicles.
The driver of the Peugeot was treated by ambulance crews but no one was taken to hospital.
