ROADWORKS are expected to cause delays through Upton when a gas main is replaced in Poole Road.

Work gets underway on Monday and is expected to last around three weeks as Southern Gas Networks replaces iron gas mains with plastic pipes.

During the works the slip road from the A350 will be closed – and motorists will be diverted via Blandford Road North. Temporary two-way traffic lights will also be installed at the entrance to Upton Country Park for the majority of the project.

A spokesman for SGN said: “We will be doing everything we can to minimise disruption during our work and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

“We understand that people can get frustrated by roadworks. However, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.”
