STAFF, special guests and service users joined together to celebrate the 20th birthday of the Poole-based day centre Barnabas.

More than 50 people attended a special party to mark the occasion at the centre, which provides day services to children and adults with disabilities.

Chelsey Mills, deputy head of Barnabas, which is run by the Dorset disability charity Diverse Abilities Plus, said: “It was a really good day.

“We had lots of people come in, including past staff and management.

“We’ve all been watching old videos put together by the students. It’s been lovely.”

A special quiz was put together specifically for the event to test everyone’s memory about Barnabas throughout the years. And, in keeping with all good birthday parties, guests tucked into birthday cake and played games throughout the day.

Miss Mills, who has worked at the centre for the past ten years, said things had changed drastically since she first joined.

She said: “It has got so much bigger and the clients and staff get out into the community so much more.”
