More than £100,000 has been given to projects and charities in Poole supporting disadvantaged children and young people by BBC Children in Need.

A total of £101,978 has been received by causes in the town, including BCHA, which was awarded a grant of £60,000 in funding, which will help to fund a child support worker.

It will mean that children and young people in Bournemouth and Poole refuges will be able to receive one-to-one support and learn new skills, resulting in better relationships and confidence.

Clare Cannock, south west regional manager for BBC Children in Need, said: “We are delighted to award further funding to Poole to support projects like Bournemouth Churches Housing Association. These grants are only made possible thanks to the incredible support we get from fundraisers.”

BBC Children in Need relies on the support and creativity of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK who donate their time, money and energy to help raise millions for the Charity. Every penny of the money raised is distributed through BBC Children in Need’s main and small grants programme.

Organisations working with children and young people in Poole who would like to apply for funding in future rounds of Children in Need should go to the Grants section of the website bbc.co.uk/pudsey
