A HAMWORTHY couple will swap the bright lights of Vegas for the romantic streets of Paris after winning a one-in-10-million dream ticket.

Martin Layton, 54, and new wife Sarah, who travelled to Nevada to get married last week, visited the Eiffel Tower Experience the day before their wedding at the Chapel of the Flowers.

But little did they know that their visit to the attraction, an exact reproduction of one of Europe’s most famous landmarks built to half-scale, would be the 10 millionth since it opened – and the lucky couple were given a free trip to France on the spot.

Mr and Mrs Layton were also serenaded by Taylor Hicks and Jersey Boys, who broke from their tourist disguises to perform a celebratory song.

“It was an absolutely huge shock,” said Mrs Layton, who has been staying at the world-famous Luxor Hotel with her new husband.

“We’re only just now getting over it. It has just been a completely amazing trip. Coming out to Vegas and getting married has been fantastic, but winning the trip is incredible.”

The couple, who are first-time visitors to Vegas, decided to get married in America as it is the second wedding for both.

Mrs Layton, 43, said they have known each other for years through working together.

“It was a small wedding – just us and Martin’s nephew Richard, who lives in New York,” she said.

“But it was so romantic and wonderful. We won the trip the day before the wedding, so our heads were spinning even more than they would have been already.”

The trip to Paris will serve as their second honeymoon.

Mrs Layton said: “We were quite aware that there was a lot of attention on us as we arrived.

“People kept asking us to pose for pictures saying it was for marketing material. We did notice that it was a bit OTT, but thought it was just part of the experience. When we realised what was going on, it was such a huge surprise.”
