AN American-style ranch offering City Slickers-style wild west holidays in the Dorset countryside has gone on the market for £1.25m.

The new owner of Loose Reins will take on a ready-made glamping business, complete with 10 American quarter horses, 13.3 acres of land, three cedar cabins, paddocks and a barn with 11 stables.

Marc and Michelle Gibbs started the holiday business in Shillingstone, near Blandford, in 2015. The company caters for all riders, from complete beginners to 'regular wranglers'.

Mr and Mrs Gibbs are selling the company to begin a new project.

"The site is up a typical Dorset lane, but then once you get into the site it sort of takes your breath away," said Mrs Gibbs.

"It looks like you're driving into Montana, it doesn't look like Dorset at all. It's lined by trees on three sides with this hill rising up behind and there's an old lime quarry.

"People feel like they are in this little sanctuary that's somewhere else.

"We've got ten American quarter horses - the kind you would find on all the ranches in America.

"They are quite hard to come by, we had to import some from abroad.

"The horses are trained completely differently to the way they are in British riding. They pass all the leadership over to the rider, they're much easier to manoeuvre, everything is done on a long rein so it's a very relaxed and laid back style.

"The facilities are all there if the buyer wants to continue the Western riding but they don't have to, they could just focus on the glamping."

Each of the wood-panelled cabins at the site sleep four people. Cabins have a kitchen with a woodburner, fridge, four-ring gas hob and oven and bathroom.

Mrs Gibbs said: "There's lots of potential.

"The site is massive if someone wanted to focus on building up the glamping side of things. It's got so much going for it."
