A BODY found in the River Stour on Monday is believed to be that of missing woman Jean Lea.

Police said on Monday the family of 70-year-old Andrew Latcham had been informed following the discovery of a body at Tuckton.

However, it was been confirmed on Thursday that police believe the body to be that of Jean Lea who disappeared 10 months ago.

The discovery was reported to police at 4.33pm on Monday, January 22.

Mr Latcham, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was last seen on CCTV leaving his supported accommodation in Park Road, Blandford at 3.30am on Saturday December 30.

Jean Lea left her home address on Meadow View Road shortly before 3am on Sunday, March 26 last year.

Detective Inspector Richard Wiseall, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Jean’s family has been updated of the discovery and is being supported by officers. Our deepest sympathies are with them at this difficult time.

“The coroner has been notified and we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“We have also updated the family of missing man Andrew Latcham of this development. Searches are continuing for him in the Blandford area.”
