POLICE are searching for burglars who broke into a church earlier this week.

Offenders broke into the Blandford Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 22 by smashing a ground floor window.

The raid is the latest in a string of break-ins at churches in North Dorset this summer.

As reported in the Daily Echo, police have been probing a link between three burglaries committed in June.

Recording machines were stolen from the Longburton Methodist Church in Street Lane sometime between 3pm on June 20 and 1.50pm on June 22.

St Hippolytus in Ryme Intrinseca was also broken into sometime between 7am and 6.50pm on June 22.

Thieves smashed a stained glass window at the rear of the church to break in.

St Peter and St Paul's in Blandford was raided sometime between 1pm on June 18 and 7am on June 19.

A quantity of cash was stolen.
