FIRE crews were kept busy over the weekend with a number of callouts including a child who became locked in a bedroom and smoke caused by burnt toast.

On Saturday at 6.13pm, one crew from Sturminster Newton attended a road traffic collision involving one vehicle that had left the highway on B3091 at Hosey Bridge. Crews made the vehicle safe and left the incident with police.

At 10.04pm on Saturday night, a crew from Wimborne crew entered a locked bathroom where an elderly man had fallen who was then assessed by paramedics.

Then at 10.29pm, crews from Redhill Park and Springbourne were mobilised to a report of a property fire in Latimer Close, Bournemouth. On arrival crews found a small fire out on arrival.

On Sunday morning at 11.26am, crews from Sherborne and Sturminster Newton were called to a property in Hill View, Bishops Caundle, following a 999 call stating that their kitchen was on fire.

Sherborne crews arrived on the scene within 10 minutes of the initial call and confirmed that the smoke was caused by burnt toast and the attendance of the second appliance was not required.

Crews from Poole and Redhill Park were called to a commercial property in Mannings Heath Road following a report of smoke coming from the building at 11.29am on Sunday.

Crews were quickly in attendance and after liaising with the onsite staff confirmed that this was in fact a small controlled burning

Then at 12.52pm, a crew from Swanage attended a vehicle fire involving a single estate car on Broad Road. Crews extinguished the fire in the engine compartment of the vehicle using a hose.

Later that day, at 3.30pm, a crew from Westbourne was called to assist a three-year-old child who became locked in a bedroom after the door mechanism failed. Crews were able to enter the room using small tools and the youngster was reunited with his family.
