A MAN was punched in the face after complaining about the behaviour of a large Alsatian dog.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was attacked by the dog's owner after raising concerns that the Alsatian was causing a nuisance to his own smaller dog. He suffered a cut lip.

The incident happened at Chantry Fields, Gillingham, around 5.45pm, May 30, as the victim and his wife were walking their dog.

Constable Simon Rogers, of North Dorset police, said: "This was understandably a distressing incident for the victim and I am keen to hear from anyone who has any information that can help our investigation.

"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who recognises the description given of the man and his dog, to please contact the police."

The offender, aged around 45, is slim, 6ft tall and has balding hair with tinges of red and grey. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark cardigan. His dog was a large, fluffy, white Alsatian.
