POLICE are encouraging a victim to come forward and speak to them after a video of an assault was posted on social media.

The incident took place at the sports ground in Lymington and was published online on Monday.

A member of the public informed police of the video, but the victim has not spoken to police.

Officers are urging people not to name those involved or make comments that could cause further problems.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "We received a report from a third party at 6.43pm on 30 April about an assault at the Lymington Town football club/sports ground.

"To date we have not received a complaint from the victim and would encourage them to come forward.

"We are aware that a video has been shared publicly on social media and we would discourage people from naming those who may have been involved or making comments that may incite further problems of any kind."
