A WOMAN poisoned an elderly woman over a number of months and stole £3,000 from her account while she was in hospital.
Jennie Greaves, 37, of no fixed abode, Jennie Greaves, 37, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on Thursday, November 30.
She has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to poisoning and two counts of fraud by misrepresentation.
Detective Constable Martin Timmis said: “Greaves poisoned an 85-year-old woman from Beaulieu over a number of months in 2016. The drug Amitriptyline was found in her system.
“While the woman was in hospital, Greaves withdrew over £3,000 from her bank account.
“In 2017, Greaves also obtained over £3,000 by fraudulently using the credit card of a 68-year-old man from Pennington.
“The case brought an end to this abuse of trust and shows our determination to tackle criminals who prey on older and vulnerable people.”
