WINTER deaths in Christchurch and the New Forest were around 130 people higher than the rest of the year in 2015/16, according to official figures.
The research by the Office for National Statistics showed there were 100 fatalities in New Forest and 30 in Christchurch defined as "excess winter deaths".
The figure is calculated by drawing a comparison between the number of deaths from December to March with the average for the preceding August to November and following April to July.
The latest numbers were down on the previous year, which had New Forest recorded at 170 excess winter deaths and Christchurch at 70.
