MOTORISTS have been warned about a series of planned overnight closures on the A31 in Dorset and Hampshire.

Highways England has given notice that there will be phased overnight closures between Cadnam interchange - junction 1 of the M27 near Southampton - and the Bere Regis roundabout in Dorset.

The closures will involve both carriageways and all of the slip roads, as well as bus stops adjacent to the carriageways.

The work is scheduled to last for around seven months in various locations and closures would take place between 9pm and 6am.

Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using numerous roads including the A35, A36, A350 and A338 Spur Road.

In a public notice, Highways England said: "These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway works and all associated works."

It could start in mid-September, but an official date has not been provided yet.
