A STUDENT from Fordingbridge has been recognised for her outstanding academic achievements at University Centre Sparsholt.

Jess Bonner was top of the class having been awarded the ‘Best Overall Performance Prize’ for her Extended Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Activities) course.

Set within the grandeur of Winchester Cathedral, Jess collected the prize as families, friends, lecturers and invited guests proudly watched students receive their hard earned degree awards marking the successful end to their time at Sparsholt.

This was the first ceremony under Sparsholt’s new designation as a university centre which was further endorsed recently by the achievement of a Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Silver award.

Principal Tim Jackson presided over the ceremonies and reflected on the college’s achievements highlighting the exciting developments within the faculties. He said: “My congratulations to Jess on her best overall performance prize which recognises all her hard work, commitment and academic success."

Joining the principal was guest of honour Councillor Roy Perry, Leader of Hampshire County Council. Before the presentation he praised the students for doing something which they find interesting and fulfilling.
