FIRE services from four stations dealt with a fire in the St Leonards and St Ives area.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue crews attended the incident in the open on Hurn Road on Tuesday evening shortly after 9pm.

Footage from the police helicopter, which was passing the area at the time, showed the extent of the blaze.

The fire, which involved rubbish, tyres, cars and possible cylinders, was extinguished using compressed air foam, two main lines and one monitor.

Crews from Springbourne, Christchurch, Ringwood and Poole stations were deployed to the incident.

Earlier in the evening, two appliances from Christchurch fire station attended a two floor domestic dwelling on Stanpit to deal with a roof fire.

The small fire around the chimney exterior was extinguished using one hose reel jet and using safe working at height equipment.

The crews at the scene made the area safe.

The incident was logged by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue services at 6.42pm.
