PLANS for the second phase of a Ringwood development are going on display later this month - with an unmanned exhibition.

The Linden Homes scheme at Crow Lane and Crow Arch Lane is building 175 new homes.

The latter section of the development includes 113 of the houses, 50% of which are affordable housing, and the provision for pedestrian and cycle pathways.

New Forest District Council approved detailed plans for phase one of the project in March this year.

Representatives from Linden Homes met with local residents on Monday, but Ringwood Town Council's planing committee heard that the public consultation for the second part of the project will go on display without any representatives from the developer.

Deputy town clerk Jo Hurd told the meeting: "There will be an unmanned exhibition and Linden Homes will not be meeting with us beforehand because they haven't got time to.

"They're trying to get the exhibition sorted before the main holiday season. They have however said they will share their display boards with us prior to the meeting so that we've got the opportunity to ask questions.

"Their main consultation is going to be with residents who live adjoining the site."

In reply to this approach from the developers, Ms Hurd responded stating the town council would expect a meeting and a manned exhibition.

Citing time concerns, Lindon Homes confirmed they would meet after the public exhibition to discuss any concerns raised by residents.

A spokesperson for Linden Home said: "The outline permission and plans were approved by New Forest District Council back in 2014.

"This dealt then with the principle issues, such as the amount of development, and approved accesses to the site from Crow Lane and Crow Arch Lane.

"Detailed approvals for Phase 1 and all site wide infrastructure were approved by the Council earlier this year. We are now developing the detailed design of the remaining residential areas.

"This includes the layout and design of buildings and landscaping. These detailed issues will be most relevant to those living closest to the development, who should be the focus of our consultation on these plans.

"That is why we invited 35 households who are neighbours to the Phase 2 part of the site to meet with us individually, and have visited a number of them this week to explain to them the draft proposals.

"Most of those who accepted met us at their own property.  The public exhibition is an opportunity for the wider community to view our plans.

"Any comments or questions can be directed via our manned ‘0800’ community phone line, website or through comment cards will available at the exhibition. We welcome any and all comments that visitors to the exhibition wish to make on the detailed aspects we are apply for.”

Phase two of the development confirms Section 106 funding of £532,000, which is paid to the New Forest District Council and Ringwood Town Council will be working with the district council on how this is spent.

The display of the site is at the Gateway in Ringwood between Wednesday July 19 and Saturday July 22.
