DRIVERS faced rush-hour delays of around 40 minutes on a major road following a crash.

One lane was closed on the A31 eastbound after the crash, which took place at Stoney Cross at around 5pm, leading to a six-mile queue.

Four vehicles were believed to be involved, and a van reportedly went into a ditch.

Normal rush-hour traffic added to the delays, with traffic generally slow across the New Forest.

The lane has now re-opened.
