NEW images have been released of what a historic cinema being rescued by campaigners could look like.

Artists' impressions have been unveiled for what the Ringwood Regal - which has long been the subject of a dedicated campaign set up by residents - could one day become.

Its loyal appreciators have spent fundraised cash to have surveys carried out on the building to gauge an idea of costs for possible conversions.

They have also been working with architects who has produced these latest impressions of the interior. One displays a look into the auditorium from the stage, the other of the extended foyer and bar - which would be under the stalls seating.

Chairman of the Ringwood Regal Action Group, Mike Tuck, said: "It may seem that not much is happening with the Regal but behind the scenes we have been very busy. Using some of your money, which we collected during the crowdfunding campaign, we have employed some professionals to produce reports for us.

"Two separate companies have surveyed the Regal building for us and produced reports that accurately quantify the cost of our future conversion plans. The figures from these reports have been entered into our feasibility study/business plan. "Additionally we have had a professional valuation survey of the building which gave us a comprehensive report, the contents of which are now also in our plan. A local architect has also been working with us to produce artist’s impressions of the interior.

"We have been working closely with the Charity Commission for some time in order to become a registered charity and the report has now been submitted to them. We still have further documentation to submit before the latest deadline of June 10 and we are working on this now. Once we have our charity number fundraising will begin in earnest."

The campaign has also been given a much-welcomed boost after it was confirmed that actor and former I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here winner Christopher Biggins will be the star attraction at the next fundraising family fun day on June 10 at Carvers Recreation Ground.

Mr Tuck added: "Come and see us for a chat and get free burgers and ice cream courtesy of the local churches, a great day for the children and adults alike."
