SCHOOL children have been recognised for their impressive photography skills after an interschool photo competition saw hundreds of entries.
The Rotary International Photographic Competition was hosted at Ringwood School on Wednesday with the winners of each category celebrated with a certificate.
Now in its fifth year, the competition saw 1,200 entries from children of Burgate School, Downton Primary, Moyles Court, Poulner Junior, Ringwood and Trafalgar School at Downton.
The winner of the years four to six category was Portia Turvey and the runner up Bradley Divall, both of Moyles Court School.
The years seven to 10 category saw Ringwood School's Lauren Walkley awarded first prize and her peer Harvey Parker given second prize.
Lauren was also presented with the award for overall best in show, by Trevor Pogson, chair of Ringwood Camera Club.
The years 11 to 13 category winner was Mark Skeates, with second prize going to Lily Wallis - both of the hosting school.
Andrew Chorley, of Trafalgar School, took home first prize for the adults category, and the runner-up was Charley Roche-Baines, of Downton Primary School.
Stuart Fielder, course leader of photography at Ringwood School, said: “Every year I find myself genuinely inspired by the enthusiasm of the young people who take part in this competition. It gives me an important opportunity to encourage and celebrate all aspects of students' photographic skills from across the area.
"Creativity is something we do particularly well as a country and art education’s role is vital to keeping this production line of talent healthy.
"I am looking forward to including more schools in next year’s competition and would invite any schools interested to contact me here at Ringwood School.”
