A TEENAGE driver has been left without a car and out of pocket after a hit-and-run driver fled the scene of a crash.

Harry Wilshire has just £150 to show for a £1,400 investment and has now appealed for help in tracing the driver whose car collided with his.

His car collided with a white Skoda Fabia in Hightown Road in Ringwood in the early hours of Sunday November 20.

And Harry said the female driver simply told him: "It's not my fault - I've just split up with my boyfriend and I can't be bothered with this."

The collision took place just three days after Harry bought his car for £700, taxed it and paid £600 for the first instalment of his insurance. His insurance company has given him just £150 back after deducting the excess.

He said the Skoda driver left without providing any personal details and he does not have the registration number of her car. The collision has been reported to police.

Harry, now 18, and of Charminster Place in Bournemouth, will be joining the Royal Navy at the end of January.

He said: "As soon as she had crashed into me, she asked me for money and said she didn't want to go through insurance. She was angry when I said no and said she had just broken up with her boyfriend."

His mum, Myka, said: "Harry had put all his money into this car ready for when he goes into the Navy to serve his country.

"We are appealing for the public’s support in finding the driver who has had no consequence."

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Police said they received a report of a collision in Hightown Road, Ringwood at 3.45am.

She added: "The vehicles involved were a grey Seat Leon and a white hatchback. The driver of the hatchback drove away without exchanging details."
