PLANS have been submitted for the first phase of a 175-home development on the edge of Ringwood.

Developer Linden Homes wishes to build a mix of 62 houses and flats in the first part of the Crow Lane scheme.

This comes after planning approval for the controversial green-space development was given, in principle, in 2014.

Now, in plans submitted to the New Forest District Council, Linden Homes say they will build 62 homes, 31 affordable, as part of the first stage. These will be a mix of one and three bedroom flats and two, three and four bedroom houses.

Once completed, the finished development on the 1.5 hectare site will feature allotments, open space areas, a nursing home, a children’s nursery, a hotel and garages.

However, two years ago, when the outline of the 175-home scheme was approved, 136 objection letters were received from the council. Objectors said they were concerned about the impact on the area, including its roads and public services.

Also included in the first phase are plans for 100 car-parking spaces, on-road parking and a new footpath linking to nearby open spaces.

Linden Homes say further details for the rest of the site will be submitted at a later date, either as a second phase or in smaller stages.

A decision is due to be reached by the council in February.
