A DRIVER has apologised after causing a horror crash where his car ended up on its roof after he lost control of it whilst undertaking another vehicle.

Dramatic footage shows the moment Ryan Vincent lost control of the BMW sending him careering into the central reservation before flipping and hitting three vehicles before landing on its roof.

Miraculously no-one was seriously injured in the collision which happened on the A35.

Vincent who, as reported yesterday was banned for two weeks by magistrates, said how sorry he was to everyone involved in the crash - describing his actions as stupid.

He said: "The first thing I thought when I came to a stop in the car was, 'I hope everyone is okay' I am just so sorry about what I did."

Vincent was driving back from sales shopping in Southampton when he says he came up behind a car in the outside lane doing about 40mph.

"I know it was a stupid thing to do, but I decided to go around him.

"I know I shouldn't have done but as I did I hit a kind of bump in the road and where the road was a bit greasy the back came out and I just lost control of it."

Asked how he felt when he saw the footage, Vincent said: "I just felt sick, I can't believe it.

"Even the ambulance guy said when he looked inside he didn't expect me to be alive."

Vincent who appeared in court fo the sentencing explained to Aldershot magistrates how a mix-up with his insurance documents also left him without the appropriate cover.

The 33-year-old mechanic said: "I thought I was covered by my employer's insurance, but it turned out it was my responsibility, it was my fault I should have checked the paperwork.

"The magistrates reduced the amount of time I was banned for after they heard all the circumstances.

"I was in court to give my side of the story and to say how sorry I was for what happened."

Along with the 14-day ban Vincent, of Crawte Avenue, Holbury, was also given six points on his licence, a £320 fine, £40 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge fee after he admitted driving without due care and attention and without insurance.
