MORE than 1,000 runners were turned all colours of the rainbow to raise money for a New Forest hospice.

The second annual Oakhaven Colour Run, held at Brockenhurst College on Sunday, saw scores of people run four laps of the college's field while volunteers dumped cups of coloured powder on them.

The result was a colourful spectacle and ended with all the participants throwing paint up into the air.

All the money raised through the event will be donated to the Oakhaven Hospice which supports and cares for people suffering from life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Paula Cheshire, the events fundraising manager at Oakhaven, said: "Last year was our first one and we had about 600 people doing it last time so we have had an increase.

"The whole point is to get covered in colour and it has been absolutely brilliant.

"They all start with a white t-shirt and they go around and get blasted with colour.

"They come for the fun and the colour and they do a good thing for Oakhaven which is a lovely cause and close to a lot of local people."
