AN UPLIFTING artwork created to raise awareness of breast cancer care has been displayed at the launch of Dubai's World Art Fair.

The piece by New Forest artist Sharon White of Mumbojumbo Paint was created after women donated their bras to the project.

Initially, it went on display at Royal Bournemouth Hospital's new women's health unit.

However, the artwork - named the Tree of Life - has now been shipped to the UAE and was put on display at the launch of this month's art fair, held at Dubai's World Trade Centre.

Women affected by breast cancer began creating butterflies from autographed bras donated by female celebrities in 2014.

Lorraine Kelly, Tess Daly, Kirstie Allsop and Denise Welch were just some of those who supported the project.

Sharon said: “I couldn’t be more delighted that messages of hope and transformation have reached the UAE via my Tree of Life artwork.

"My work has been embraced in Dubai and I’ve held workshops there to identify the therapeutic values of art.

"This particular artwork originated from an idea and workshop that began at Captain's Club Hotel in Christchurch, and now it’s travelled thousands of miles to reach the cultural capital of the world – how fantastic is that?”

The artist’s work has already been shown, collected and exhibited at prestigious locations on Dubai’s Palm Island, including the Fairmont Palm, Khaliyida Palace, Abu Dhabi and Rotana Towers.

Sharon is now embarking on her next project in partnership with five other artists.

The team plan to launch a gallery in Christchurch's Saxon Square.
