FIRE crews have helped a cow stuck in mud in the New Forest.

Firefighters and animal rescue specialists were called to the scene at Godshill, near Fordingbridge, where the three-year-old Aberdeen Angus cow had got stuck, and managed to lift her out.

The nearby Sandy Balls Holiday Village provided a tractor to help in the operation, which happened earlier today.

After being freed the animal has been put in a dry shed and is expected to make a full recovery.
