A CCTV image has been released after a dog walker was assaulted in New Milton.

Police are appealing for information following the attack, where a man suffered a possible fractured jaw and facial injuries.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, went to the Rec at New Milton but when approached by a group of men, walked away as he thought 'they looked aggressive', a spokesperson for Hampshire Police said.

He crossed the road and walked onto Old Milton Road, and two members of the group followed him and as he walked past Tesco he was assaulted.

Detective Constable Steve Roman, said: “This was a violent unprovoked attack which took place by a busy road. Were you driving along the road at the time? Did you see what happened? Do you recognise the man in the CCTV? I would urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC Roman on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
