VILLAGERS were treated to a day of fun in Bransgore with world darts champion ‘Scotty Dog’ Mitchell opening the event.

The darts ace, who lives in the village, brought along his trophy cup for visitors to see and posed for photographs.

Meanwhile, a daredevil fire performance thrilled spectators as Joseph Peace set fire to the wheels of a unicycle and cycled around the arena. He then strapped himself to a burning spinning gyroscope before jumping a push bike through a wall of fire for his finale.

Also putting on a show were raptors from Liberty’s Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre showed off their aerial abilities, with the Harris Hawk and North American Bald Eagle both on display. And the Perlin Falcon, one of the fastest animals on earth, swooped in at speeds of 200mph towards the crowds.

Also in the main arena event was a zumba display, with all ages joining in with the fitness fun.

Dave Holmes of Bransgore Rotary Club said: “My hat goes off to our Fun Day organisers. Every year they manage to find entertainment that is different and appeals to all ages.

“The fact that the day raised over £4,000 for our various local and international charities makes all the hard work that is put in worthwhile.”

Other attractions enjoyed by visitors were fairground rides, climbing walls, caged cricket, a plate smashing stall, dog shows, Punch and Judy and ferret racing. There were also food stalls selling homemade cakes from the WI and bric-a-brac.

A brand new car was then presented to the Community Responders in memory of Ann Hickman, a Rotarian and councillor. Ann's mother was asked to unveil the car.
