THERE were emotional scenes as hundreds of people paid tribute to two teenagers who died in a horror road crash.

More than 500 people turned out to release balloons and lay flowers in memory of Lily Butterfield-Godwin and Abbey Rogers in a Hampshire beauty spot.

Well wishers hugged each other for comfort as they listened to poetry and tributes read by friends of the two 19-year-olds and Lyndhurst youth worker Patrick Webb and vicar James Bruce read poetry and tributes and performed songs.

Crowds were also told the other passenger who had been travelling with Lily and Abbey at the time of the crash had been released from hospital. Friends video-called her so that she could watch the emotional event at Bolton's Bench in Lyndhurst.

Lily and Abbey and the third passenger had been travelling in a Mazda RX8 being driven by a 21-year-old man when it hit a wall in Gosport Lane, killing the two former Totton College students.

An investigation is continuing into what caused the crash last week on the A337. No arrests have been made.
