NEGOTIATIONS to deliver a £450,000 centre for young people in Colehill have reached a "sensitive" stage.
Parish leaders say they are optimistic about raising the cash to improve The Reef centre on Colehill Lane, which will be funded by town, district and county councils.
Chairman David Torring said fundraising efforts were “on track,” adding that architects had begun work on plans – leaving volunteers hopeful that building work will start in March 2011.
“The centre will be open to the community for hire as there is a definite need for more community spaces in the area. The upstairs level will mean parts of the centre could be used separately,” he said.
Young people had voted for a free internet café and a space for indoor games at the centre, he added. Mums and dads with young children will also be encouraged to use the new facilities.
A fashion show to raise funds will be held at the Colehill Memorial Hall on Friday March 19 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £2.50 for adults and £1 for under 18s. Admission for children under 10 is free.
