A NEW centre primarily aimed at young people in East Dorset is on track for success, say community leaders.
The Reef Youth Centre in Colehill, currently based in the former caretaker’s bungalow of St Michael’s Middle School, is set to be replaced with a £475,000 two-storey facility.
David Torring, chairman of the Colehill and Wimborne Youth and Community Centre Ltd, which is spearheading the project, said it was going well and that they had pledges from “quite a few trusts”.
Building work is set to begin some time in 2011, he said.
East Dorset District Council has already agreed to support the parish council by meeting annual repayments on a £200,000 loan for the centre.
The new centre will be able to be used for indoor games when the weather is bad and events such as fashion shows and discos.
An internet café is also planned which could also be used by the wider community.
