POLICE are hunting two men, armed with a knife, who tied up a Verwood woman and stole her jewellery.
The raiders called at a house in the Black Hill area, gave the 54-year-old woman a made-up story, and then forced their way in when she opened the door.
One of the men threatened the victim with a bladed instrument and they tied up her wrists.
The crooks then stole a large quantity of jewellery, bank cards, passports and other items before making off and leaving her tied up.
Detective Constable Jane Matthews, of Ferndown CID, said: “The victim wasn’t injured but she was slapped during what must have been a very frightening ordeal.”
She added: “This is a very unusual incident for Verwood and it’s quite likely that this wasn’t a random attack – I also believe that other residents are in no danger from these unscrupulous men.”
The raiders struck at 3.30pm on Thursday.
Police said the men are both white and have local accents.
The man with the bladed implement is five feet 11 inches tall, aged in his early thirties and of stocky build with mousy coloured wavy hair.
The second man is shorter and younger than the first, of slight build with dark coloured hair.
Detective Constable Matthews said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously in the area that afternoon, and from anyone who saw an unusual vehicle parked up in that area.”
