A MUM whose son broke his wrist in two places at an indoor trampoline park is calling for safety measures to be made stronger at the venue.

Hannah Innes, 29, from Springbourne, had taken her son Leo, 4, to the Activate Trampoline Park in Ferndown on Friday after school with his cousins and other family members.

The family were taking advantage of a free session following a visit to the park during the Easter break.

But mum Hannah said there weren't enough staff on duty and a crash pillow was held together with duct tape and not fully inflated.

It meant Leo crashed to the ground without any cushion when he fell.

"He's a tough little cookie but he was writhing around in pain", Hannah told the Daily Echo.

"He fell down the gap between the trampoline and the crash pillow. Landing areas were unsupervised as well.

"At first the staff were amazing, but we heard the manager left the building when the paramedics were with us.

"And we still haven't heard from them despite being told we would be contacted."

Leo broke both bones in his wrist in the incident and faces being in a cast for weeks while it heals.

Hannah added: "We were sat in the room waiting for the ambulance and a member of staff came in and said the crash mat wasn't inflating properly. Right in front of us.

"Some of the equipment has massive patches held together with duct tape. It was a bit chaotic. They were at capacity I would say and didn't have enough staff.

"I know you sign a waiver and it is at your own risk, but you expect the equipment to be working and staff to be responsible."

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) says the number of trampoline parks has risen rapidly in the past two years.

There are around 100 open across the UK.

Last year they launched a brief for managers to identify the risks in order to reduce the number of accidents at the venues.

Activate is a member of the International Association of Trampoline Parks.

General manager of the park, Tom Harmes, said: "Customer safety is our main focus at Activate but unfortunately there was an accident on Friday. Following on from our primary investigations there is no reason the equipment participated in this accident.

"Footage shows the young customer exiting the Air Bag after his jump and becoming distracted, unfortunately causing him to mis-step and land awkwardly. We have followed up on his injury and will continue to follow his progress."
