A HORROR film shot in and around Dorset that was almost five years in the making has just been released.

Filmmaker Peter Goddard, 33, from Alderholt shot his third film, Harvest of the Dead, in and around Alderholt with scenes also filmed in Ringwood, Bournemouth and Wimborne.

The film stars former Grange Hill legend Zammo, otherwise known as Lee MacDonald, and local actor Tim Faraday, who appeared in Legend with Tom Hardy.

The film follows the story of four teenage girls who venture into the British countryside for a weekend of camping before it becomes clear that they are not alone.

Peter and actor Terrence Elliott, who stars in the film, came up with the story based around their love of old Grindhouse/Slasher films of the 1970s and 1980s.

Peter said: “We wanted to incorporate as many homages to some of the classic films of the genre as we could.”

The film just been released through two companies in the USA on DVD, Blue ray, VHS and VOD.

The movie is one of many horror films that has been produced in Dorset in recent years, following the likes of K-Shop, made in Bournemouth, the zombie film, Stalled, shot in Wimborne, and spooky family movie, Treaters, made by Boscombe-based film and video company, Treehouse Digital.

Peter said: “I think it’s brilliant that there are so many filmmakers in the local area producing such great work. Their filmmaking stories are so inspirational and had such an influence on me to go out there and just do it. Hopefully it will also inspire other people to do the same.”

Peter wants to start a sequel this year and is looking for local actors or crew to be involved.

He said: “The working title for the sequel is Harvest of the Dead 2: Halloween Night and, in the same way that the first film was inspired by backwards type slasher films, the sequel is influenced by suburban set slashers films such as Halloween.”

“Along with working on the sequel for Harvest of the Dead, I also have another film project called The Graveyard Shift in development.”
