Looking for a traditional carol concert to attend? here's a selection of just of the events taking place across Dorset in the run-up to Christmas. 

1. Carols by Candlelight will be held at Lansdowne Church in Woodbury Avenue on Sunday, December 17 at 5- 7pm. Book at lansdownechurch.uk/5pm or lansdownechurch.uk/7pm

2. A Christmas carol concert in aid of the Poole Hospital Charity will take place at St Aldhelm’s Church on Tuesday, December 19 between 7.30pm and 10pm. The concert takes place amid the church's Christmas Tree Festival, with music from the Funky Little Choir, mince pies and mulled winter punch.

3. A carol concert takes place at Citygate Church in Holdenhurst Road on Sunday, December 17 between 7.30pm and 9pm. There will be traditional carols and readings followed by mince pies, mulled fruit punch and a live lounge band. All are welcome.

4. Poole and Parkstone Singers are holding their annual carol concert at St Aldhelm's Church in Branksome on Friday, December 22 at 8pm. There will be festive music, readings and more among 60 decorated trees as part of the Christmas tree festival. Entry costs £6 on the door only.

5. There will be community carol singing in Ringwood Market Place from 6pm on Christmas Eve with music from the Ringwood and Burley Band and Ringwood Salvation Army Band. Father Christmas will arrive by horse drawn carriage and will receive gifts from Rotary Club of Ringwood, which will be distributed to local children's homes and special schools.

6. A traditional candlelit carol service takes place at St Christopher's Church in Burleigh Road on Sunday, December 17, between 6pm and 7.15pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards, and everyone is welcome.

7. A Carol Service with the Mayor of Christchurch, Councillor Nick Geary, is being held at Christchurch Priory at 7pm on Thursday, December 21.

8. Two carols by candlelight services will take place at St Mary’s Church in Church Road, Ferndown, on Sunday, December 17. There will be one at 4.30pm with another at 7pm. Both will be followed by mulled wine and mince pies in the hall.

9. Tapper Funeral Service is inviting members of the community to join them in celebrating the festive season at a memorial Christmas carol service. It will be held at its Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground in Lytchett Minster, on Wednesday, December 20, at 6pm. The service is free to attend with all donations going to Forest Holme Hospice.
Mulled wine and mince pies will be provided after the service. 

10. A carol service will take place at the Woodlands Methodist Church on Sunday, December 17 at 6pm. Members of Verwood Concert Brass will perform. Hot drinks and mince pies will be available after the service ends.

11. A Carols by Candlelight service is being held at Twynham Church in Barrack Road at 6.30pm on Sunday, December 17. There will be songs and readings plus mince pies and hot drinks.

12. A Christmas Eve carol service will take place at the Gateway Church in Ashley Road at 9pm. Following the service, mince pies and mulled wine will be served. All are welcome.
 

13. Members of the Dorset Chamber Choir will perform a carol concert at St Mary and Bartholomew in Cranborne on Saturday, December 16 at 7pm. Tickets are available on the door priced at £10 for adults and £5 for students and children.

14. A carol service for shoppers will take place at Wimborne Minster church at 11am on Saturday, December 16. All are welcome to enjoy the service.

15. The Rotary Tree of Lights Carol Service will be held at the Grove Hotel on Bournemouth's East Cliff on Wednesday December 20 at 6.30pm. The hotel is linked to Macmillan Caring Locally and is for people with cancer and life-threatening illnesses.

16. A service of Nine Lessons and Carols takes place at Richmond Hill St.Andrew's URC Church in St.Stephen's Road, Bournemouth, on Sunday, December 17. The choir will sing carols by candlelight and a collection will be made for the children of Uganda. The service starts at 4pm and there will be mulled wine and carols afterwards in the lounge.

17. There will be carols by candlelight at Poulner Baptist Chapel Linford Road, Ringwood, on Sunday, December 17. starts at 6.30pm and the service will be followed by tea, coffee and mince pies.
