A VILLAGE charity shop recently received a pair of unusual donations.

The Prama store in West Moors contacted Dorset Police after a man dropped off two air guns on Tuesday afternoon.

The Webley Junior 177 air pistol and Diana air rifle were collected by police for safe disposal on Wednesday.

Kate Pemble, assistant manager at Prama in West Moors, said she was shocked when the guns were donated to the shop.

"The man walked in with the guns in his hands and said, "hope you can sell these". We took them out the back and we weren't sure what to do with them so we rang the police," she said.

"Luckily a staff member knew what they were and checked they weren't loaded. It's the first time I have seen something this unusual whilst I have worked here.

"We get some pretty disgusting stuff dumped on the door step, but we have never had anything like this which has got everyone talking - especially with how they arrived at the shop."

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police was called at 10.52am on Wednesday August 9 to a report of an air rifle and an air pistol donated to Pramacare shop on Farm Road in West Moors.

"Officers attended later that day to collect the items."
