THE POST Office is looking for a new postmaster to run its Ferndown branch, which closed suddenly last month.
A sign appeared on the door of the shop in Penny’s Walk on Wednesday, July 5, explaining that the post office had been closed until further notice.
But now the Post Office has confirmed it is actively looking for a new postmaster to run the Ferndown branch.
It follows weeks of complaints from residents and councillors who were given no notice about the closure and no information about how long it would last.
Ward councillor Julie Robinson said the post office needed to get its “act together and communicate with local people” so they know what is going on.
It has also not helped that customers of the now closed HSBC bank in Ringwood Road were advised to use the post office to cash cheques and withdraw money.
Speculation suggests the locks were changed on the post office overnight by the previous tenant, following a dispute with the current occupiers.
Currently the nearest post office facilities are in West Parley or West Moors.
