HUNDREDS of people will help set a new world record in Wimborne next month.

The attempt, organised by Wimborne Rotary, will see people try to set a new world record for the largest human representation of a text message.

This will be formed by people each holding a letter of an agreed message promoting the global Purple4Polio campaign by the Rotary club to eradicate the infection worldwide.

It is hoped that it will be the longest line of letters to set a new verified world record.

The attempt will take place at the Allendale Centre in Wimborne and will form part of a Family Fun Day running from 11am until 3pm. The actual record attempt will be made between 1pm and 2pm.

Wimborne Rotary President Sue Young said: “We need members of the public willing to take part to turn up on the day to register.

“If achieved, this record could see the town of Wimborne Minster in the record books,” she added.
