A SELFLESS schoolgirl has cut off her long hair for charity - for the second time.

Emma Denton, who attends Merley First School, is still just seven years old.

But the youngster has twice chopped off her long auburn hair to donate to the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs and hair pieces for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment and alopecia.

Emma first donated her hair when she was just five, and has spent two years growing it back so she could do it again.

This time, she was supported by all of her schoolfriends, who dressed up as royalty in return for a donation to the charity and watched as she had her hair cut.

Emma said: "Last time I did it with my mum and this time I wanted to do it on my own, and I'm a Brownie and Brownies stick to the Brownie promise.

“I also really wanted to help children who don't have hair."

The Little Princess Trust needs to raise funds to cover the cost of making the wigs, with each wig costing around £350.

The little princes and princesses of Merley have so far raised £280 to go with Emma’s very generous donation of her hair.

Headteacher Jane Phillips said: “We were delighted to get behind Emma’s generous donation to The Princess Trust.

“She is an incredible little girl with a very big heart. To donate her hair twice by the age of seven shows just what a caring nature she has.

“Everyone at the school is so very proud of her and her choice to support a charity that helps so many other young children.”
