A SNAKE found itself in a sssssticky situation after getting stuck in the bath at a home in East Dorset.

The six-foot long Boa Constrictor was being given a bath at a home in Ferndown on Thursday, when the mishap occurred.

The RSPCA were called to help release the snake from being trapped in the bath.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the incident, calling in the animal charity's expertise after the snake's owner was unable to free her.

The snake had become wedged in the bath's handle after deciding to explore its surroundings, and was unable to move through it, forward or back.

In the end, the handle and the side of the bath were removed before the Boa Constrictor was safely released and returned to the care of her owner.

RSPCA Inspector Patrick Bailey said: “This was an unusual rescue but as you can see from our 2016 rescue round-up we never know what we might be called out to. I'm pleased we were able to help set this snake free, unharmed."
