RUNNERS went Christmas crazy at an annual charity challenge this December.

More than 100 people donned red suits and beards as part of Wimborne Rotary's eighth Great Santa Fun Run, which took place at Badbury Rings on Sunday, December 11.

Following a warm-up session, entrants completed two or four miles around the point-to-point course to raise sponsorship for their chosen charities.

Among those taking part were John and Molly Slow from Wimborne, who are 86 and 85 respectively and took part in the two-mile challenge.

A total of 12 charities benefitted from the year's event, including the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation, Sport Against Cancer, Rotary Polio Eradication, the Forest Holme Hospice and Wimborne Wagtails.

An additional £2,000 was raised for Rotary charities through the event.

Rotarian Alan Griffiths, who organised the race, said: "We were all very pleased that so many runners turned out to take part in such lovely conditions and that the event has supported such a worthwhile group of charities."

Runners were given mince pies after their races.
