PLANS to resurface part of a busy commuter route in Kinson have been rescheduled until after the reopening of New Road in Parley.
The resurfacing work on a section of Wimborne Road, required for a new pedestrian crossing, will now take place after March 22.
The issue was initially raised by Cllr Ron Whittaker, who feared the resurfacing would have caused additional congestion for motorists being diverted through Kinson while New Road is closed.
Cllr Michael Filer, cabinet member for transport, said: “Keeping the town moving is a top priority for the council.
“We recognise Dorset County Council’s closure of New Road has placed additional traffic pressures on the borough’s network.
“For this reason we have decided to delay the works in Kinson to specifically avoid further disruption for those travelling in and out of the town.”
