A POPULAR country pub in Bransgore is undergoing a major renovation this week in time for the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Crown, part of the Vintage Inns Group, which closed its doors last week so work could begin, is set to reopen on Friday, April 28.

At the centre of the overhaul will be an update to the pub’s bar and dining areas, which will feature new seating, and the large garden area and exterior will also be given a revamp.

Ben Stothard, general manager at The Crown, said: “The Crown is a traditional country pub at the heart of the community, in an enviable location that is perfect for both local and new guests.

"The remodel will allow us to welcome even more guests and will really brighten the interior of the pub, providing a fresher and more contemporary atmosphere, whilst still retaining its classic, country pub feel.

“I’m looking forward to pushing the pub into its new era. The Crown embodies exactly what a country pub should be, and I’m sure our new surroundings will offer our guests a real home from home feel.”

Head chef Darren Hilton, who has been at The Crown for six months and has over 25 years’ experience in the industry, has overseen the launch of the new menu which will includes classics such as tender bacon rib, beef rib curry and seabass on black rice salad.

The pub is dog friendly too.

There will be a VIP launch event on Thursday, May 4 between 6pm and 8pm, where guests will be able to sample highlights of the pub’s extensive menu, over a complimentary glass of Prosecco.
