HUNDREDS of people at the Regent Centre were part of BBC's The One Show on Wednesday.

The cinema and theatre was chosen out of thousands of independent cinemas in the UK to appear on the popular prime time programme.

And the audience of 476 people who had booked to see the film Lion were pleased to find themselves part of the show.

A live satellite lead had been set up from Broadcasting House in London to beam The One Show direct for everyone to watch on the big screen at the Regent from 7pm.

The Regent's general manager, Felicity Porter, said: “It is absolutely amazing that the BBC chose the Regent as their leading independent cinema to appear on The One Show.

"We are so proud both for the Regent and for Christchurch.

"The One Show has an average audience of five million viewers, so this has really put us on the map and it will be the talk of the town for years to come."
