WORK to improve the state of Saxon Square in Christchurch will take place from September 7.
The outdated planter at the entrance to the shopping area will be removed to improve views and open up access with six cycle stands next to the planter replaced with eight new ones in the High Street.
It is expected to be finished by September 17.
The market will be cancelled on Thursday September 9 and possibly September 16 and it may be necessary to cancel the Saxon Square element of the market on Monday, September 13.
Cllr Sally Derham-Wilkes, portfolio holder for business and tourism at Christchurch council, said: “The planter really has had its day and removing it will make the access to Saxon Square much more pleasant.
“It will also mean that the new coffee shop coming to the corner unit will be able to have tables and chairs outside, giving the Square a more continental feel.”
