will soon be celebrating the arrival of some new play facilities thanks to the tireless work of a local community campaign.
Work to build the new “High5” play area at Highcliffe Recreation Ground will start on Monday after a two-year battle by residents to provide local children and teenagers with more adequate play areas.
The facilities will include an aerial cableway, an overhead rotator, a climbing zone, a trim trail, ball court and shelter. The design, chosen by local children and residents, will cost £57,000.
Cllr Josephine Spencer, portfolio holder for children and young people, said: “This is wonderful news for the young people of Highcliffe.”
The work is due to last for four weeks but won’t affect the existing play area.
