JUST days after hard-working volunteers from cleared the streets of litter in Purewell and Stanpit, more rubbish has reappeared on the verges.
More than 30 volunteers from the community, organisation MAYO and The Grange School gave up their weekend time to fill 24 bags of litter from the streets and surrounding meadows.
Five councillors, including ward members Cllr Ray Nottage and Cllr Lucy Filer, also gave them a hand, with a barbecue manned by local police officers.
But in a matter of days, the verges along Burton Road were once again littered with rubbish.
Ward councillor Ray Nottage said: “The litter pick was such a positive event for this community. We had a great turnout and I would like to thank everyone.
“It’s a shame the actions of a few thoughtless individuals have to ruin their hard work.”
