POLICE were called after reports a substance was poured through the window of a home in Christchurch.

A cordon was put in place at Draper Road in Christchurch at 8.20pm on Thursday following the incident.

Police, firefighters and paramedics all attended the scene.

The victim who had breathing difficulties was checked over by the ambulance service.

A police spokesperson said: "At 8.19pm on Thursday May 17, Dorset Police received a report that a substance had been poured through a window of a property on Draper Road in Christchurch, which was causing the occupant to have breathing difficulties.

"In order to allow emergency services – police, fire and ambulance – to safely establish whether the substance posed any danger, a cordon was put in place.

"The victim was checked over by the ambulance service, but did not seem to have sustained any injuries.

"Following an assessment it was established the substance was non-harmful. The neighbourhood policing team will be following up the report to establish whether any criminal offences have been committed."
