ORGANISERS of a popular market and craft fair in Christchurch are appealing for help to find an alternative temporary venue following the closure of Druitt Hall.

Druitt Hall is closed until further notice after a potential safety risk was discovered in March.

The decision to cancel all bookings for the venue was made after a building surveyor inspected the roof.

Responsibility for managing and maintaining the hall falls to trustee group, Druitt Hall Community Association (DHCA).

A spokesperson of the Friday market said: “The Friday market and craft fair serves the community well by providing table top and craft items at reasonable prices.

“We also run a lovely food and beverage service from the kitchen by our certified chef”

“We need help to find temporary alternative premises whilst the repairs are completed.”

The building is set to remain closed until a structural engineer completes a detailed assessment of the building.

It is not known how long the council-owned facility will be out of action.

Anyone who is able to assist is asked to contact the market organiser Jane Martin on 01202 470261.
