DIVISIONS in the Conservative Party's Christchurch group have surfaced again.

The Daily Echo understands an official standards complaint has been made by a councillor against one of their fellow members for his behaviour at a public meeting.

It is believed Cllr Claire Bath has lodged the complaint against Cllr David Jones in relation to a recent Christchurch Borough Council planning committee meeting.

The Daily Echo approached Cllr Bath for a comment, but did not receive a response.

Cllr David Jones said: "I was not aware a complaint had been made. I'm surprised that a complaint has been made and disappointed that if this is an official standards complaint that no opportunity was given to me to resolve it.

"I have heard nothing so it may have been found there was no case to answer."

Richard Jones, Christchurch Borough Council's legal and democratic services manager, said: β€œIt would be inappropriate to disclose whether any complaint has been received about an individual before any investigation or conclusion has been made.

"Therefore, we are unable to confirm if a complaint has been received by Christchurch Borough Council.”
